Solar 101: Rooftop is not the only option

When people hear the phrase “solar powered,” their minds usually go straight to paneled roofs and discounted electric bills. Rooftop panels are a great option for many homes and businesses, but they aren’t the only way to harvest the sun’s power. In reality, the possibilities to harness renewable energy for your home or business extend far beyond your roof.

Not all roofs are ideal for solar panels. If your roof is not at the right angle, faces a direction other than south, or has chimneys or skylights, a rooftop solar energy system may not be the most practical option for your renewable energy needs. One great alternative when it comes to solar power on your property is to opt for ground mount solar panels. Ground mount solar panels are equally effective for pulling the sun’s power into your home or business, and can be positioned almost anywhere, giving you more control over your solar energy choices.

There are two types of ground mounted panels: standard ground mounts and pole mounted solar systems. While most standard ground mounts can be adjusted throughout the year to maximize your solar input according to the season, pole mounted solar systems are often built to automatically tilt to capture the optimal sunlight to convert to energy.

Knowing whether your home or business is fit for traditional rooftop panels or ground mounted systems can be a tricky task. You may think your roof is perfect for panels, or you may want to try the alternative. Sun Harvest Solar can help you decide which option is best for your home, as well as handle the installation process for you. Don’t be intimidated by the decision, let the experts help!

Don't forget the passive solar items like more insulation, radiant barrier, solar screens and Inflector insulating window coverings.
Also orher active solar items like CREE LED lights from fancy stores like home depot. lol. And thermal solar like solar hot water , sunovens and other simple items.
These all add up to better savings.
